Oh… and there are bands playing too.
Yes that is Tommy Lee & Deadmau5 eating filet mignon sliders at Outside Lands this past weekend. See what other bands were caught stuffing their faces over at Eater:SF
If you’re a fan of festival food you might want to follow (or unfollow if you’re not into living vicariously through others) foodcurated for the weekend. She’s at Outside Lands SF for the weekend, Day 1 is barely under way and she’s already downed some delicious looking poke and this. (Deep fried mac and cheese FTW!?)
How to Eat Adventurously at Outside Lands
Outside Lands is as much about the food as the music. Seriously. Take a look at the dozens of food and beverage vendors who’ll be bringing some of highlights of Bay Area cooking to the festival, and start working up an appetite (and perhaps a chow fund) now. You may want to plan in advance which stands to hit. Will it be authentic Indian street food from Kasa, a fried plantain burrito from Little Chihuahua or bacon-studded hot dogs from 4505 Meats? (And no, we won’t blame you for grubbing on all three.) After you get your savory fix, expect to be seduced by the psychedelic flavors of Three Twins ice cream or the organic s’mores from Charles Chocolates. If you like things lighter, there’s local fruit from Full Belly Farms. Whatever you crave, come hungry — and don’t be surprised if the tastiest items sell out toward the end of each day.
The Rolling Stone Guide to Eating Lollapalooza

Going to Lollapalooza next weekend? Rolling Stone’s Insider’s Guide has some eating recs:
Chow Down at Chow Town: Chicago is known for its groundbreaking cuisine, from classic comfort food (Lou Malnati’s deep-dish pizza) to high-end gastronomy (Grant Achatz’s Alinea). Both the low- and highbrow are represented at Lollapalooza’s Chow Town, which is curated by hometown chef Graham Elliot and features more than 30 local vendors offering their trademark eats. Ones to try: gourmet Chicago-style hot dogs – topped with caramelized onions and cherry-tomato relish – from Franks ‘N Dawgs; ice cream from the 85-year-old Chicago staple Original Rainbow Cone; and in a nod to Illinois’ dairy-loving neighbor, Wisconsin fried cheese curds with rhubarb romesco from local foodie spot Bonsoiree.
And Then Eat More: The face-stuffing doesn’t have to stop at Lollapalooza. For breakfast, we recommend Wicker Park spots Bongo Room, which has tasty seasonal pancakes (check out the orange-ricotta hotcakes with brown-sugar butter), and Jam, where the egg sandwich comes with pork cheek and green-apple ketchup. When lunchtime rolls around, head to Andersonville pizza icon Great Lake, where the mortadella-sausage pie made GQ’s 2009 list of America’s best slices. Grab a cheap dinner at Bucktown’s Big Star – which was inspired by the Bakersfield, California honky-tonk bars where Merle Haggard once hung out – order some pork tacos and tequila (they have 19 different kinds), and dine al fresco.

Uh… is that Spicy Pie I see on that list? Why yes. Yes it is.
Coachella 2011: The Complete Food List

Maps of the fairgrounds are now available, and set times were finally released… but there’s still one more bit of Coachella business to be taken care of. The food! While most people are busy sorting through which bands to see, I’m busy planning my meals (Kogi, Coolahus, crab fries, doughnuts, egg rolls and a corn dog have already been penciled in… with a little music squeezed in, I suppose.) The eating will begin early on Friday, and you can follow along @foodisnewrock
