James Murphy to Cook at Le Fooding NYC
Roving French food festival Le Fooding returns to NYC in September and it seems like music is going to play an even bigger roll this year…
Grub Street reports that “James Murphy [will] cook a dish alongside “rock-star chef” Inaki Aizpitarte of Le Chateaubriand in Paris” while Murphy’s ex-bandmate Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem plays a DJ set. Other headliners are yet to be announced, but Thurston Moore is reportedly interested.
Le Fooding fest seeks to get to the bottom of this quandary: Why do festivals with great music have shitty food, and restaurants with great food have shitty music? Why not blend the best of both sensory experiences? Or, as Le Fooding’s Anna Polonsky told Grub Street: “The idea is that the food is really bad at music concerts and at the same time, when you go to really good restaurants, it’s sometimes not so fun.”
